About the Group

The Group offers opportunities to young people (Boys and Girls), to experience a wide and varied range of Scouting activities.  Whilst we are classed as a "Church Sponsored" Group, we have a policy of unrestricted recruitment, meaning members are not required to be regular attendees of the Church.  However, during the year, usually six Church Parades are held, at which members are expected to be present.

Every Scout Group is an autonomous organisation holding its own property and equipment, raising its own funds and admitting young people to membership of the Scout Group subject to the policy and rules of The Scout Association.  A Scout Group is led by a Group Scout Leader and managed by a Group Executive Committee, which is made up of adults who are parents, members of the local community and others who may have been previous Leaders.  They are accountable to the Group Scout Council for the satisfactory running of the Group.

The Group Scout Council is the electoral body, which supports Scouting in the Scout Group. It is the body to which the Group Executive Committee is accountable.  ALL PARENTS BECOME MEMBERS OF THE GROUP SCOUT COUNCIL when their child joins.

3rd Hitchin is one of the largest and most popular Groups in the Hitchin District.  Therefore, a waiting list may operate.  Please contact us as soon as possible if you have a child who wishes to join.

All sections meet during term time :
Beavers on Tuesdays (for 1 hour)
Cubs on Wednesdays (for 1 hour 15 mins)
Scouts on Mondays (for 2 hours)

We are indebted to all the non-paid volunteers who are our Leaders and Adult helpers.  Without them, the Group would not be the success it is.
